Apprentice Fire Pump Engineer

Apprentice Fire Pump Engineer

An apprentice fire pump engineer role has opened up at MI Pumps

We are looking for a young (16 - 18), hardworking, electronically minded person to become our first ever fire pump engineering apprentice.

The role of a fire pump engineer is relatively unknown in the engineering industry. Even with countless fire pumps across the country, fire pump engineers are slowly dwindling.

You will learn skills that will put you in a terrific position as an engineer with a potential for a prosperous career.

The role will pay £4 - £5 per hour but there is also occasional opportunities for additional work outside of your normal working hours at a higher rate.

  • You must be able to cope with very early mornings and extended periods in transit. Work is on the road and not in a workshop. Sometimes up to 6 hours driving and/or 1000 miles per week. Overnight hotel stays are quite regular.
  • You must be able to speak and write English.
  • You must live in Medway and within close proximity of our Chatham Dockyard office for daily collection from an engineer.
  • Previous electrical and/or mechanical experience would be an advantage.

The role would be ideal for someone with a fondness of cars and their inner-workings from a young age.

After completion of your apprenticeship (and with a driving license) there will be the opportunity of a full time position within the company.

If this is of interest to you, or you know someone who this position would be ideal for, please get in touch.
